WhatIWore: Any chance I have to “get ready” while Adam watches Felix, I take it.  Yesterday me and my son had a busy day out (read more below) and this is what I wore. It was a crisp morning and I always love the first day of the season to wear tights and layer up!

My normal wardrobe only sorta kinda works these days. Right now I’m limited to two pair of larger sized jeans and this stretchy skirt. On top, hardly anything fits so I’ve added some new pieces to the mix this season, include this button down polka dot blouse and sweater. I actually wore this to Nurse and Chat - a mom’s group at Bloomington Area Birth Services. It’s so nice to get together with other new moms to compare notes (does your baby grunt all through the night too?) and honestly - just to get out of the house instead of staring at the TV or my iPhone while I nurse.

I’ve had a lot of facebook notes concerning nursing friendly fashion and I’ve found that deep V-necks and button downs are my favorite. If I wear either I can layer a sweater and be pretty descrete nursing in public. I felt awesome in this outfit and plan on getting a lot of wear out of all of these pieces!

And hello! Curled hair and red lipstick!! A little bit of makeup made a big difference in feeling like a tired mommy and a real person (who is still… often times, very tired).

WhatIWore: Today is off to a fantastic start! I’ve been waking with the sun (around 6:45) these days and slowly starting my morning with the news and a light breakfast. I had planned today’s outfit last night before bed so getting ready was a breeze and we had extra time to find a good spot for outfit photos before starting off our days.  I had my first doctor ordered massage and although it was short, it was heavenly. Then, as if that weren’t good enough, I treated myself to some mid week donuts.

When: May 7, 2014

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Northern Lights’
Necklace: Noonday
Dress: Target
Belt: J.Crew (similar style)
Denim Jacket: Anthropologie (similar)
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff ’M.A.B. Mini Satchel’
Sandals: Target

Where: Appointments, Studio, Lunch

I’m also in a new outfit, which always makes me feel great. The focus of this whole thing has to be my new Rebecca Minkoff satchel, which I scored for a great bargain at the downtown Chicago Nordstrom Rack. I was sort of “saving” it (not sure why!) and I’m glad I brought it out today. This dress is of the non-maternity variety and I found it at Target. I’ve picked up so many good knits there lately, and I know this dress will be perfect for the hot summer ahead.  I was never totally into or against the high/low skirt trend, but now that it’s happening naturally to all of my evenly hemmed skirts, I’m going to really embrace it.

What I Wore | Windswept

Spring Outfit, Pregnancy Style, Maternity Style, @whatiwore

WhatIWore: Yesterday was a pretty good day. It was warm enough to ditch my trench by noon and I had some promising doctor’s appointments that left me feeling a lot more optimistic (baby is fine, I’m just dealing with some issues that I hope are resolved soon!).  Outfit wise, another super simple combo - skinny jeans, a crisp white tee, classic trench and flats and a great fringed spring scarf. A great basic look for any woman, pregnant or not!

Lipstick: Ilia in 'Wild Child’

WhatIWore: Here I am, wearing my white leather jacket again. Sorry, not sorry! I just love it so much. I think the white is a nice contrast to the black tights and boots, which I am sooo ready to retire for the season. I keep telling myself one. more. week. I can do it! I hope hope you’ll give me kudos for dressing for the actual temperature instead of freezing my tail off and faking like it’s warm!

Booties: Rag and Bone

Why: I’m also really digging this dress I picked up at Target over the weekend. It’s got that hi lo hem thing going on, which I haven’t really played with before and have a feeling I’ll be seeing a lot of when my skirts start draping over a growing baby bump. Plus it’s a drawstring waist (yesssssss) which can be loose or slide up a little higher. My current belly starts out one size and by dinner time, looks like it’s grown by a month. Par for the pregnancy course, I hear!

I’ll definitely wear this dress for spring sans tights and jacket and maybe on not-too-hot days this summer.

I’m also REALLY into my new lipstick! I bought a beauty bundle from Storq last week because I’m a lot more concerned with the ingredients in my beauty products these days. I love this pretty and bright reddish/coral lipstick, which comes from an organic lab and is made with food grade pigments.
