WhatIWore: There’s something about this dress that feels a little magical… a little witchy? And every time I see it I instantly start hearing Fleetwood Mac in my head. I kept things really simple today - just black flat sandals and a turquoise necklace - a dress like this doesn’t need much else! Happy Weekending!

What I Wore on What I Wore

WhatIWore: Last week I posted about a dress that I bought because it looked like a thrift shop find and in the same order I picked up today’s blue printed maxi… for a similar reason! This has a sort of 1970s hostess dress appeal and I really like mixing fabrications like floaty chiffon and buttery leather. Case in point, check out some of my past hard and soft pairings here, here and here. I’ve recently rearranged my gallery by year, so if you’re killing time, you might like to see what I wore back in the day! My style has evolved yet stayed the same in a lot of ways. I’m so happy to have documented all of these outfits! I’m coming up on 9 years of daily photos this May!

When: February 29, 2016 LEAP DAY!

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper
Dress: ModCloth
Leather Moto Jacket: MICHAEL Michael Kors, purchased in part through a TJMaxx supplied gift card in 2010 (similar option here)
Quilted Leather Backpack: Gift of Vera Bradley from previous partnership

Where: Coffee Shop Morning (and later errands to the grocery and fabric store)

I’m really getting tempted to pack away my winter closet before I leave for spring break. The weather here is most definitely ahead of schedule and as I look at all of my wooly knits, I can’t bare to layer them on. I’d rather be a bit chilly at this stage in the game! What about you? Do you keep your year round closet all in one place or do you switch things out seasonally? I like putting things away because it feels so fun to unpack them 6 months later. And some of you might remember me saying that I couldn’t wear a lot of my favorite dresses because they didn’t have easy breastfeeding access… well… I’ve missed them and can’t wait to steam ‘em up and arrange them in my closet!

Ways to Wear | Pops of Cobalt

Cobalt, Ways to wear Cobalt

WhatIWore: One of my favorite pops of color in winter (and year round) is cobalt. I only have a few pieces - a giant infinity scarf and a cobalt handbag, but they work beautifully with a lot of different other colors and patterns. Above I’ve pulled some pairings I really like from my archive - stripes, prints, with pale pink and mint green.

What I Wore on Instagram

WhatIWore: Look who’s twinning it up today?! I saw this Indiana state flag onesie in the window of a local boutique and thought he’d look really handsome in it and then saw the women’s version and bought it for myself. Don’t we make a cute couple?

I really like pairing graphic tees with more feminine skirts. It’s still an easy kid-friendly outfit (as long as you’re not crawling around all over the ground) but more than jean shorts and a tee (which I do wear quite regularly too). We wore these outfits yesterday morning for a walk, a mommy-son breakfast date and then to baby hour at the library. Oh! And Felix took about 6 steps to me and I could have just started bawling in front of everyone. This lil guy is growing up too fast!
