WhatIWore: Firstly - THANK YOU! for all of the nice notes and comments and email from our happy news last week. It was a fun day for me to read through all of them!

As I mentioned in my last post, I am determined to have a better attitude about clothes with this pregnancy. For me that’s going to include a little more shopping (I was pregnant in the opposite season last time!) and buying things that I like now and wearing them now instead of buying and saving as I often do at my regular size.

Take these jeans for example (from my long time partners at Old Navy)! The boyfriend cut (non maternity, but in a size up) works for my fluctuating belly (big and round one day or looking semi flat but like I ate too many donuts the next!)  And even though I just said, “buy now/wear now” I know they’ll be so comfy postpartum too! I really like is the patchwork effect and ripped bits as well. I know I’ll eventually need to find some maternity jeans I like (open to recommendations!) but for now, I’m really happy this style works!

Speaking of denim, Old Navy has a lot of cute styles I wish fit my growing waistline like these high rise flares or mid-rise skinnies. Oh well! Next spring!

And surprise surprise - another sweet white lacy top that has a bohemian vibe. I like what I like! I also grabbed this scarf, which is the right weight for a cool air conditioned room in summertime or for an early fall morning.

Fresh Air

Toddler Boy Outfit, Old Navy, Lake Monroe

After being cooped up with colds (and a double case of conjunctivitis for me) last week, our family was itching to get out of the house and get a little sunshine this weekend. Luckily we had some nice weather (high in the low 80s, low humidity) on Saturday, so we all loaded up in the car and took a drive out to Lake Monroe for a change of pace from our normal park and restaurants in town. First things first - lunch - at one of our favorite spots out there, The Scenic View. Afterwards, Adam navigated down to a small empty beach where we let Felix play around and throw rocks into the water (I assume all like kids love this just as much, right?) We wandered in some wooded areas, picked flowers, Felix wondered “Bear?”  (he’s very into Winnie the Pooh right now) and we all got the fresh air we needed.

Just as I was milling about in PJs all week, Felix was pretty much in tee shirts and diapers. I decided to put into a real “outfit” for our outing and I think he looks so cute in little button down shirts (we took it off for lunch…just in case of a big spill). I’ve also found layers to be beneficial with kids when they get their first layer messy too - just throw on a hoodie (or in the case of summer, a little short sleeved collar shirt like this) and voila! Clean(er) looking kiddo! Then again, what do I know? His feet were wet within seconds and he sat down in the dirt just after these photos were snapped. Big thanks to today’s post sponsors at Old Navy and for the gift card I used to buy his little outfit!

What I Wore on Instagram

WhatIWore: I’ve really embraced more tee shirt and jeans (or skirt!) outfits versus dresses since Felix was born. Around this time last year, I wrote about what I call ‘playground tees’ - easy options for a cute casual outfit (see examples here, here & here). I also appreciate that tee shirts aren’t a not a big investment but can spark a little inspiration for your wardrobe. Although I have lots of stripe tees, what’s another one? They’re what I like to wear!

I really like this outfit! In the past I might have worn it with nude heels, but I love the ease and walkability of Birkenstocks. Plus you could easily swap out the skirt for a pair of cropped jeans for another cute outfit idea.

When: May 4, 2016

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’
Necklace: Self Made (just a charm on an old chain - similar here)
Striped V-Neck Tee: Old Navy, via giftcard
Jacket: Old Navy (from a few seasons ago)
Belt: Thrifted
Skirt: ModCloth (similar here)
Sandals: Birkenstock

Where: Donut date with Felix

Old Navy (today’s post sponsor!) is having a huge sale on their tees (which they’ve recently updated in fabrics (like linen blends!) and silhouettes (fitted, relaxed and boyfriend styles). I went with the relaxed style, which isn’t too big and isn’t too tight. I’m wearing a small here for reference! Create your own #neverbasic look with tees that are 50% off online (until May 10th or buy one, get one free in store until May 10th).

Heads Up! Today’s post has been sponsored by my long time partners, Old Navy. Thanks for supporting the brands that make What I Wore possible!

Spring Discoveries

Cute Toddler Boys' Outfit, Easter Egg Hunt, Felix

Felix is in the age of discovery. He loves playing hide and seek with his toys and gets such a sweet look of surprise on his face when he finds something. Needless to say, our Easter egg hunt last weekend was a big hit with this little guy!

As a child, I always had a new special outfit for Easter and I couldn’t resist getting Felix something special this year too. We’re sort of going for a 70s, festival child type vibe with this one! I let him wear his little hat out shopping and every older woman seemed to stop us and ask about his fedora. It was so adorable. We went though a little phase of not wanting to wear hats, but after I showed him how I wear mine, my little copy cat put his on too. (Hat is also one of his recent new words, so he loves pointing to his and saying “hat! hat!”)

Felix’s wardrobe is usually pretty basic (see his spring clothes here), but for this special occasion, I decided to go for something a little more stylish for him. Using a gift card from my post sponsors at Old Navy, I chose a popover oxford shirt and printed shorts. Kids can do pattern mixing too! Look at that baby hipster! Ready for his Easter egg hunt or a music festival (maybe Hangout Fest so we can visit Aunt Becca and Uncle Nick in Alabama?!?) How cute!!
