WhatIWore: Here’s a look at my uniform of late - the updated mom on duty outfit. Sneakers, a track jacket, leggings or joggers and tee are my go-to pieces at least three or four days a week. I feel pulled together and appropriate for the playground and grocery alike. I have ambitions of returning to my pre-baby style (or pre-Bea style) when I can but I really do have to keep reminding myself to be a little more forgiving. On so many things. Maybe you’ve been there with your own children or maybe you’re yet to experience the adjustment. Sometimes I feel really defensive going into writing these posts, like I have to prove myself to someone or explain why clothes aren’t that important to me right now. Or why I’m not keeping the same pace as other bloggers or even the same pace as I did with having my first baby. I’m not asking for a pity party or anything, I’m just figuring it all out and Adam keeps reminding me that the people that enjoy this blog will be around when I do!

When: April 3, 2017

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’
Jacket: Adidas
Tee Shirt: American Apparel
Leggings: Old Navy
Sneakers: Adidas Gazelles

Ok! Enough about feeeeeeeeliiinnnngs and onto a couple of notes about the pieces I have on. When I was a kid I was so envious of the other kids who got real adidas. I had the two striped knock off version and thought that one day I’d have my own pair. I really tried to get on board with the white Superstars (they look so cute on other girls!), but they made my feet look so huge and I doubted white sneakers would make it long staying white. So I ordered these and went down a half size and I love ‘em! No breaking in, totally comfortable, A+ sneaks.

My nursing mamas have asked about what kind of tops I gravitate towards and a deep V neck is one of them. I’ve actually been more of a pull-up-my-shirt nurser this time around, but when I have the baby wrap on, it’s easier to go through the V. This one is old and from American Apparel (it’s uni-sex).

Lastly - all moms will feel me on having a jacket with easy to access pockets. I’ve usually got a couple pacifiers and a chapstick in each one!

WhatIWore: Well hello there! I’m back to life after three of the four of us Quirks came down with a virus in the past week. First it was pity for poor little Felix, then it hit me, and before I could really recover, it hit Adam. Baby Bea was spared thank goodness. Anyway, long story short, I had intended to get back into the OOTD game but… Life. Happens.

So after a couple days of being in total yuck mode, I really wanted to freshen up for today’s outfit post. And by fresh I mean a day old shower and some red lipstick I put on specifically for the photos (I wore the tee, scarf and jeans all day).

When: March 29, 2017

What:
Shades: Target
Bandana: J.Crew Factory
Long Sleeve Tee: J.Crew Factory
Denim Jacket: Old Navy

You might recognize the stripe tee which I wore recently in Florida. These days, a new tee shirt really feels special so, why not wear it again so soon? Since it’s much cooler here, I’ve styled it with a trusty denim jacket and flare jeans and added a new super soft navy bandana (it was only seven bucks!) The one and only benefit from the a bout of sickness is a pair of jeans I couldn’t shimmy into a few weeks ago. They’re still kind of tight in the middle, but I was happy to wear something I have stored away for so long!

WhatIWore: Here’s what I wore for our last day in Florida. I made the top last year but this year updated the sleeves with some teeny tiny pom pom trim. It seems like tassels and poms are all the rage, so I actually bought a bunch and have plans to sew them to different pieces in my closet to get them a fresh look. I recently saw a similar sewing pattern from McCall and there are similar versions all over (see ‘Shop the Look’ below)

When: March 17, 2017

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’
Blouse: Self Made (similar styles here)
Belt: Vintage (similar vintage styles here)
3.5″ Black Shorts: Old Navy
Sandals: Rockport

Where: Anna Maria Island, FL

A white eyelet top can go with almost any kind of bottom, but I went with black shorts so I could show off this vintage colorful belt. I’m really glad I packed it - especially after I went to the Frida Kahlo exhibit at the Dalí museum in St. Pete! I am so inspired by her (I’ve dressed up as her here and here) and I’ve enjoyed reading some of her letters with photographer and lover Nick Muray) in a book I picked up in the gift shop. That  In fact - if anyone has read a good biography of her life and wants to recommend a title - please let me know!

WhatIWore: When you’ve got nine people staying together, getting out of the house on time is nearly impossible - but, BUT!!! We managed to round up everyone for some family photos AND get to dinner by 5 (because… babies). This is what I wore that night. I knew it would be windy and chilly and the only long pants  had with me that weren’t overly casual were these ecru jeans.

When: March 15, 2017

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’
Blouse: Old Navy
Jeans: J.Crew Factory
Sandals: Clark’s (older style)

Where: Dinner at the Sandbar with the whole crew

I’m not a huge fan of bright white jeans, especially in the winter. Especially during snow storms. But for a tropical climate I think they work year round. This pair is a high rise version from J.Crew factory and it’s not that intense bluish white you see in summer styles (this is called ‘frost wash’). I went up an additional size because I think overly tight white jeans aren’t a great look. Also because I knew I’d be doing my part to eat as many donuts as possible while on vacation (grand tally - 9) Part of me wonders what the hell I was thinking buying them with two messy kids, but I made it home without any stains so I guess that’s a win.

I love this top - I’ve been wearing it for a couple weeks now. It’s great for easy nursing access and the style and color are a great bridge between getting dressed for winter and spring. It also comes as a dress (it’s from Old Navy)

Baby Bea is wearing a romper (which I like to pronounce ‘womper’) that Nana gave to her (from Old Navy) and a headband that matches her MilkMaid swaddler.
