WhatIWore: I did it! I finally finished my fall striped sweater and got to wear it last week. My color palette came from my 70s Art Teacher inspiration boards including black, cream, charcoal, a heathered rusty cinnamon red and a lighter shade of navy. It’s going to look great with denim and black pants and hopefully the rust colored trousers I want to make soon.  I will type up the details for Ravelry when I get a chance!

For this outfit, I wanted to lean a little more modern and slightly Parisian. The hair and red lip achieve the French feel and the white moto jacket keeps the look from being too stuck in the past. I do think it’ll look cute styled in a more seventies way - with with a leather skirt and boots?

WhatIWore: Guys, I’m still crazy about these jeans! This is what I wore yesterday for an early morning work session and then errands around town with the kids. This is definitely on the short list for my most worn outfit combination - it’s so easy and still feels put together. The lighter chambray helps distance it from a cowboy tuxedo or whatever they’re calling denim on denim these days. I love all of these pieces because they’ll work with everything else in your closet too (see my guide to creating your core closet HERE).

When: Sept 27, 2017

What:
Shades: Karen Walker
Chambray: J.Crew (old)
Jacket: Old Navy (similar)
Jeans: Crafted by Lee
Booties: Clarks (gift from a previous partnership)

Where: Working at the Coffee Shop, ‘round town with my kiddos

If you were thinking about ordering these jeans, I still say go for it! At $24 you can’t lose! A note on sizing - I bought both the dark and light styles, both in a 4L (normal size) and the lighter wash did run smaller. These are only online, so I’d suggest getting two pair in different sizes and returning the ones to your local Target that doesn’t fit. Good luck!

Day Out with Thomas, Thomas the Train

Driving down the highway into southern Indiana, I said to Adam “this is one of the first times we’ve done something just for the kids.” So many of the things we do as a family are things we did before we had children - gatherings with friends and hiking and picnics and stuff where little ones just tag along.  Like many kids his age, Felix is obsessed with Thomas and friends, and I don’t say the word lightly (remember when I made him a Thomas costume for Halloween last year?) So on Saturday morning, we journeyed down to French Lick, Indiana for a Day Out with Thomas. It’s like a little pop up play land with a train ride, story time, bounce houses, bubble stations and photos with the sorta-kinda-creepy Sir Topham Hatt.

I had no idea that Adam and I would have such a good time too. It was so much fun!! My cheeks hurt from all the smiling and my heart exploding watching little Felix, who is becoming such a big boy by the day, rest his head on the sill while looking out the window. Even if we didn’t have photos (and I’m so glad we do!), I don’t think I’d ever forget it. Bea Bea loved it too! What a wonderful day!!
